I am learning a lot of things lately.
Sometimes you have to consider if a person is really a good friend at all - do they bring anything good to your life? Would you call them if you were in need, or needed to just talk? Are you certain the bad things about them are far outweighed by the good? Sometimes the answer is no. And I don't even feel very sad about it. I am more disappointed in myself for creating a fantasy of friendship, for chasing.
Then again, there are other types of friends. Friends you don't trust with anything personal, but like to see occasionally. It's fair to recognize that's what someone is, right?
Sometimes, even though you know the logic and correct-ness of being fair and objective....sometimes, you just want someone to care about you so much that they're on your side, they get angry for you, they stand up for you. It's normal to want, but most people make efforts to be objective. You can't blame them, but your heart feels what it feels, so it's not always easy.
Sometimes you have to stop pretending, even if it hurts someone. The pretending is hurting yourself.
There's something special about a man who accepts you just as you are, chooses to love you, and never questions you, just goes with the flow of YOU. Men - watch "Breakfast at Tiffany's" for a solid example of this.
Being the bigger person is often just letting someone else think they're right, and letting yourself get sort of screwed.
Summer days are hard to appreciate...until December. I am STILL trying to enjoy my summer, soak up the sun, take in the good and forget the bad. I am trying to enjoy my summer just like I am trying to enjoy my life.
I don't feel like I have it together lately. I am trying. But I feel a little bit like falling apart.

The World's Must-See Destinations - #1
I bought a copy of Life Magazine's Must-See World Destinations issue and it gives me the travel bug! Most, of course, I have not seen. The first one in the magazine is the Grand Canyon - who's been there? Is it really a MUST see?
You are summer...
Summers went by sooooooo slooooooowly when I was a child. School ended and summer seemed to last for ages. The season was packed with so many things to love - camp, vacation, grilling out, watermelon, swimming pools, and late nights.
As I get older, summer - it changes. I don't know how we stood the heat as children, but I appreciate A/C much more now. In the middle of the day, it's hard to be outside. I now appreciate summer mornings and evenings so much. The bright, warm, comfortable air. The blue skies. The occasional thunderstorm.
But now the season seems to fly by! It's here and gone before I know it. I love the other seasons as well, but am trying my best to ENJOY my summers. To FEEL them, and notice them, and not let them pass by silently so that I find myself in autumn wondering why I didn't love my summer. It's no wonder the summers disappear so quickly - I go to work, come home, eat dinner, go to bed.
I am trying to make myself do more summer things - picnics, watermelon, grilling, water park, pool, evenings outside, etc.
Must. Enjoy. Summer.

Maybe I'm not so patriotic either?
While I enjoy the community feeling on the 4th of July and celebrating some "American" things, I don't feel like the US is the only country worth living in. Every country owes something to its soldiers, right? Sure, we (as Americans) are very free in some ways, but not so free in others - other countries are much more tolerant of different beliefs/religions/lifestyles. In some countries, you are encouraged to try and fail - a person is not measured by successes, but by who they are. That's also freedom in my opinion. I also love England, so while some people seem to think it's a darn good thing we freed ourselves from English rule, I don't really mind either way.
I love different places for their different feels and customs. Georgia, as a state, will always be part of my heart, as I grew up here. But there are certainly other amazing places to live. The same goes for other countries. I appreciate America, but I don't know that I elevate it above all other countries. So someone may scream that I am not patriotic, but I hope it's just that I am more open-minded...
At any rate, I love a good community celebration, so the 4th is good for that, right?
